POCKET ARBORIST TERMS & CONDITIONS
Effective Date: October 6, 2026
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Pocket Arborist mobile application, website, and related consumer-facing services (collectively, the “App”). The App is owned and operated by Four Roots Co. LLC, doing business as Pocket Arborist (“Pocket Arborist,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
These Terms primarily apply to individual users of the App. Participating contractors, businesses, and their authorized personnel may be subject to separate written agreements governing contractor participation, professional features, administrative portals, employee or technician access, fees, and other business services. If a separate written agreement applies, that agreement controls with respect to the services covered by that agreement.
1. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
By downloading, accessing, creating an account for, selecting “I Accept,” or using the App, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not access or use the App.
2. INFORMATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES
Pocket Arborist provides AI-assisted plant health, lawn, tree, and shrub information for general informational and educational purposes.
Information provided through the App is a preliminary assessment based on the information available to the App and is not a substitute for an on-site inspection, laboratory testing when appropriate, or the judgment of a qualified professional.
Pocket Arborist does not provide professional engineering, legal, emergency, tree-risk-assessment, pesticide-application, or other licensed professional services through the App.
3. AI-ASSISTED RESULTS AND NO GUARANTEE OF ACCURACY
The App may use artificial intelligence, image analysis, structured datasets, photographs, seasonal information, geographic information, weather-related information, growing-degree-day information, user-provided information, and other available data to identify possible plant, lawn, tree, or shrub conditions.
AI-assisted results may be incomplete, inaccurate, delayed, or incorrect. Similar symptoms can have different causes, multiple conditions may occur at the same time, and photographs may not show all relevant symptoms, site conditions, structural defects, pests, diseases, environmental factors, or other information necessary to reach an accurate conclusion.
Pocket Arborist does not guarantee any diagnosis, plant or species identification, confidence score, recommendation, treatment suggestion, timing recommendation, alternative diagnosis, or other result produced or displayed by the App.
Terms such as “Likely Issue,” confidence indicators, possible alternatives, or similar descriptions represent an AI-assisted assessment based on available information and should not be interpreted as a confirmed professional diagnosis.
4. NO PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIP
Use of the App does not, by itself, create an arborist-client, consultant-client, contractor-client, fiduciary, or other professional relationship between you and Pocket Arborist.
A professional or service relationship with a participating contractor may arise only through a separate agreement or arrangement made directly between you and that contractor.
5. TREE RISK AND HAZARD DISCLAIMER
The App is not a tree risk assessment tool and does not determine whether a tree is hazardous, structurally unsafe, or likely to fail.
Photographs and AI-assisted analysis cannot reliably identify all structural defects or conditions affecting tree stability.
Do not rely on the App to make decisions concerning tree safety or risk to people or property.
Trees with dead or hanging branches, cracks, cavities, decay, root damage, substantial lean, storm damage, soil movement, construction damage, declining canopies, or proximity to people, buildings, vehicles, utilities, or other potential targets should be inspected in person by an appropriately qualified arborist or other qualified professional.
6. EMERGENCIES
The App must not be used as an emergency service.
If a tree, branch, chemical exposure, electrical hazard, storm-damaged tree, or other condition presents an immediate threat to people or property, move away from the affected area and contact emergency services, the appropriate utility company, or a qualified local professional as appropriate.
Do not place yourself or others in danger while taking photographs or collecting information for the App.
7. TREATMENT TIMING, GROWING DEGREE DAYS, WEATHER, AND SEASONAL INFORMATION
The App may provide treatment timing, growing-degree-day information, phenological information, weather-related information, seasonal activity information, pest or disease activity notices, geographic trends, or similar information.
This information is intended to assist with general understanding and decision-making and is not a guarantee that a particular pest, disease, plant stage, or treatment window is present at a specific property.
Actual conditions may vary because of weather, microclimates, geography, elevation, plant species, plant development, site conditions, environmental conditions, data availability, and other factors.
Treatment recommendations may also change depending on the condition of the plant, severity of the problem, product selected, applicable label requirements, and professional judgment.
When appropriate, users should confirm actual site conditions before making treatment or management decisions.
8. PESTICIDES, FERTILIZERS, AND OTHER TREATMENTS
Information concerning pesticides, fertilizers, plant-health products, cultural practices, or other treatments is provided for informational purposes.
The App does not replace pesticide labels, product instructions, federal, state, or local regulations, licensing or certification requirements, or professional judgment.
Always read and follow the current product label and applicable law. Where pesticide use is regulated, the product label and applicable legal requirements control over information displayed by the App.
Users are responsible for ensuring that any pesticide, fertilizer, or treatment is selected, handled, stored, mixed, applied, and disposed of lawfully and safely.
Pocket Arborist does not guarantee that a treatment mentioned by the App is appropriate, available, legal, or effective for every location, plant, pest, disease, or situation.
9. PARTICIPATING CONTRACTORS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS
The App may associate your account with or connect you to a participating tree care, lawn care, landscape, plant health care, or other service provider (“Participating Contractor”).
Participating Contractors are independent businesses and are not employees, agents, joint venturers, or representatives of Pocket Arborist.
The presence of a contractor in the App, use of a contractor code, contractor branding, or connection between a user and contractor does not constitute a warranty, certification, endorsement, or guarantee by Pocket Arborist concerning that contractor’s qualifications, availability, pricing, licensing, insurance, recommendations, workmanship, or services.
Any inspection, estimate, treatment, pruning, removal, work authorization, payment, warranty, or other professional service arrangement is solely between you and the Participating Contractor.
10. SERVICE REQUESTS
The App may allow you to request professional assistance, an inspection, an estimate, treatment, pruning, removal, or another service from a Participating Contractor.
When you submit a service request, relevant information may be provided to the Participating Contractor associated with your account or request. This may include your contact information, property information, photographs, diagnostic results, notes, location information, and information concerning the requested service, as further described in our Privacy Policy.
Submitting a request does not obligate you to hire the contractor, does not guarantee that the contractor will contact you, and does not create a binding service agreement.
A Participating Contractor may need to contact you or inspect the property before providing advice, pricing, recommendations, or services.
Pocket Arborist is not responsible for a contractor’s response time, decision whether to accept a request, recommendations, pricing, scheduling, workmanship, or services.
11. USER ACCOUNTS AND ACCOUNT SECURITY
You agree to provide accurate and reasonably current information when creating and maintaining your account.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for activity conducted through your account.
You may not misuse contractor codes or access links, impersonate another person, attempt to gain unauthorized access to another account or system, interfere with the operation or security of the App, use automated methods to improperly access the App, reverse engineer the App except where expressly permitted by applicable law, or use the App for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or unauthorized purposes.
We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users, Participating Contractors, Pocket Arborist, our systems, or others.
12. USER-SUBMITTED CONTENT
You may submit photographs, notes, comments, questions, property information, location information, symptom information, service-request information, and other content through the App (“User Content”).
You represent that you own the User Content you submit or otherwise have the legal right and permission to submit it.
You should avoid uploading photographs or other content containing people, license plates, private documents, neighboring property, or other unnecessary personal or sensitive information.
You retain any ownership rights you have in your original User Content.
You grant Pocket Arborist a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, analyze, display, and otherwise use User Content as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, support, develop, test, and improve the App, its diagnostic systems, datasets, features, and related services.
This permission also allows Pocket Arborist to process User Content through service providers that support operation of the App, including cloud infrastructure, artificial-intelligence, image-processing, analytics, security, and other technology providers, subject to our Privacy Policy.
The App is not a photograph-storage or backup service. You are responsible for keeping copies of photographs or other content you wish to preserve.
13. DIAGNOSTIC DATA, PHOTOGRAPHS, AND SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT
Photographs, diagnostic activity, species estimates, symptom information, diagnostic results, geographic and seasonal context, service-request activity, usage patterns, and system-performance information may be used to:
Operate and support the App;
Generate AI-assisted results;
Provide localized and seasonal information;
Route service requests;
Troubleshoot errors and improve reliability;
Evaluate and improve diagnostic accuracy;
Develop, test, maintain, and improve Pocket Arborist datasets, diagnostic systems, workflows, and features;
Analyze plant-health, pest, disease, lawn, seasonal, and geographic trends;
Measure App usage and performance; and
Create aggregated or de-identified analytics, statistics, and datasets.
Personal information associated with this activity will be handled according to the Pocket Arborist Privacy Policy.
Aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be linked to an individual may be retained and used for legitimate business, analytical, research, product-development, and system-improvement purposes as permitted by applicable law.
14. PRIVACY
Our collection, use, disclosure, retention, and protection of personal information is described in the Pocket Arborist Privacy Policy.
If your account is associated with a Participating Contractor, certain information may be accessible to or shared with that contractor as described in the Privacy Policy.
Information provided to a Participating Contractor may also be maintained by that contractor in its own business systems and may be subject to that contractor’s privacy practices and legal obligations.
15. ACCOUNT AND DATA DELETION
You may delete your Pocket Arborist account through the App.
Account deletion will be processed subject to reasonable processing time and any retention permitted or required for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, backup management, recordkeeping, or other legitimate business purposes.
Information that has previously been provided to a Participating Contractor may remain in that contractor’s business systems and records. Requests concerning information independently maintained by a contractor may need to be directed to that contractor.
Aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be linked to you may be retained after account deletion as permitted by applicable law.

16. COMMUNICATIONS AND NOTIFICATIONS
The App may provide account messages, service-request updates, plant-health information, seasonal information, pest or disease activity notices, reminders, or other App-related communications.
If you enable push notifications, Pocket Arborist or a Participating Contractor associated with your account may send notifications through the App.
You may control push-notification permissions through your device settings.
Disabling optional push notifications may not prevent Pocket Arborist from sending communications reasonably necessary for account administration, security, legal notices, support, or services you have requested.
17. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The App, including its software, design, branding, text, graphics, databases, diagnostic systems, datasets, workflows, interfaces, and other original content, is owned by or licensed to Four Roots Co. LLC and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
These Terms provide you with a limited, personal, nonexclusive, nontransferable, and revocable right to use the App for its intended purposes.
Except for rights expressly granted in these Terms, no ownership or intellectual-property rights in Pocket Arborist or the App are transferred to you.
18. NO WARRANTY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE APP AND INFORMATION PROVIDED THROUGH THE APP ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, AVAILABILITY, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Pocket Arborist does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, availability of any particular feature or Participating Contractor, accuracy of AI-assisted results, or that use of the App will produce any particular result.
19. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, FOUR ROOTS CO. LLC, POCKET ARBORIST, AND THEIR OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, DEVELOPERS, SERVICE PROVIDERS, LICENSORS, AFFILIATES, AND PARTNERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE APP OR INFORMATION PROVIDED THROUGH THE APP.
This includes, without limitation, damages arising from property damage, plant or tree loss, tree or branch failure, treatment decisions or costs, pesticide or fertilizer use, contractor services, loss of data, business loss, lost profits, personal injury, or decisions made in reliance on information provided through the App.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.
20. USER RESPONSIBILITY
You are responsible for decisions made using information provided through the App.
Seek an in-person evaluation from an appropriately qualified professional before making significant decisions involving tree safety, pruning, tree removal, pesticides, treatment, construction, property protection, or other matters where an incorrect decision could result in significant injury, damage, expense, or loss.
You are responsible for evaluating whether information provided through the App is appropriate for your particular circumstances.
21. SERVICE AVAILABILITY AND CHANGES
Pocket Arborist is an evolving service.
Features, supported plants and conditions, diagnostic capabilities, treatment information, service areas, Participating Contractors, seasonal information, alerts, pricing, usage limits, and availability may be modified, added, suspended, or discontinued.
Features shown in marketing materials, screenshots, demonstrations, development previews, beta versions, or descriptions of planned functionality may differ from features available in the current version of the App.
22. GEOGRAPHIC AND COVERAGE LIMITATIONS
Plant coverage, diagnostic support, seasonal information, geographic information, treatment guidance, and Participating Contractor availability may be limited by geographic region, plant species, pest or disease, service area, available data, season, or current App capabilities.
Information developed for one geographic region may not be appropriate for another.
23. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The App may rely on or provide access to third-party services, including cloud hosting, artificial-intelligence services, mapping, weather information, communications systems, app stores, contractor websites, and other technology or services.
Pocket Arborist does not control all third-party services and is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, security, content, or independent practices of third parties except as required by applicable law.
Use of certain third-party services may also be subject to the third party’s own terms or privacy practices.
24. TERMINATION
You may stop using the App at any time and may delete your account through the App.
We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access if you violate these Terms, misuse the App, attempt unauthorized access, threaten the security or operation of the App, engage in fraudulent or abusive activity, or create legal or safety risks for Pocket Arborist, Participating Contractors, users, or others.
Provisions that by their nature should reasonably survive termination, including provisions concerning intellectual property, User Content previously processed as permitted by these Terms, aggregated or de-identified information, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and legal rights, may survive termination as permitted by applicable law.
25. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms periodically as Pocket Arborist develops or as legal, operational, or business requirements change.
Updated Terms will be made available through the App or associated website and will include a revised effective date.
When a change materially affects users’ rights or obligations, or when required by applicable law, we may provide additional notice or request renewed acceptance.
Your continued use of the App after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
26. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Nothing in these Terms prevents the application of consumer-protection or other laws that cannot lawfully be waived.
27. SEVERABILITY
If any provision of these Terms is determined to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect.
Any invalid or unenforceable provision will be enforced to the greatest extent permitted by applicable law or, when appropriate, interpreted in a manner that most closely reflects its intended purpose.
28. ENTIRE AGREEMENT AND SEPARATE CONTRACTOR AGREEMENTS
These Terms and the Pocket Arborist Privacy Policy constitute the agreement between an individual user and Pocket Arborist concerning consumer use of the App.
Participating Contractors, businesses, administrators, employees, technicians, and other authorized professional users may be subject to separate written agreements governing contractor participation, commercial services, professional features, portals, user seats, fees, data access, and other business functionality.
To the extent a separate written agreement applies to a Participating Contractor or professional user, that agreement controls with respect to the services and matters it covers.
